In our home we had new tiles and and baseboards after putting our furniture in the garage this summer. Had boxes and boxes of books etc. so going through them I found an old friend Robert Henri who wrote “The Art Spirit” in the early 20th century. He was a teacher that has helped many many artists. 

He had much wisdom not only in painting but in a person’s spiritual journey. I took my journey in my mid fifties and still pursuing off and on in late 70’s.

My husband and I took my artist friend to lunch yesterday who at 100 years old still paints. She took classes from LeRoy Neiman and others at the Chicago Art institute and was honored to sit with the President of that institute when they honored Leroy Neiman.

She has had a wonderful career as the head of art at a Chicago School district but also had a career as a sculpture artist. So it was renewing a friend in person also. We were in same building for many years in our own studios but checking on each other.
